Hello Philosopher Friends,
After years of neglect, I found some time to make some improvements to our Citizen Philosopher website, home of the Thinking Out Loud podcasts. I have added an audio player, so now you can listen to our podcasts at any time without subscribing to the podcast through iTunes or any other podcast service. Just click on the Podcast menu button. There you will find each of our conversations listed with a built-in player. Click the black triangle and listen to the recording on your computer. We had some great discussions.
I have also posted our first three TV shows (click on the Videos button). The videos are more labor intensive to put online and also use more bandwidth, so I can only post three of them at this time. Maybe someday in the future I will be able to post more.
Lastly, check out the Citizen Philosopher Bookstore I added. I am hoping it might add a little revenue stream to help defray the cost of maintaining the website. It is actually just a mini-Amazon store specializing in philosophy books. Amazon does all the billing and shipping and such. All I did was to make some book selections and customize the interface a bit, to fit into the Citizen Philosopher website. In exchange, they kick back a small percentage of all sales that go through this website. So if you have the urge to buy a philosophy book (or any book, actually) please buy it at the Citizen Philosopher Bookstore. You will be supporting the pursuit and dissemination of wisdom.
Speaking of the dissemination of wisdom, here are some statistics on our podcast listenership:
August: Why Marriage? 3423 hits Limits to Knowledge: 438 hits What is Love? 426 hits
July: Why Marriage? 1943 hits Is Free Will an Illusion? 584 hits What is Love? 486 hits
June: Why Marriage? 1762 hits Is Free Will an Illusion? 1008 hits The Nature of Addiction: 654 hits
I just listed the our top three for each month, but I can tell you that all our podcasts are still being listened to each month.
Cheers and deep thoughts be with you,
Your citizen philosopher,
Steve
